Choosing a rabbit insurance is like a challenge for the rabbit owners. Rabbits by nature are prey animals. They act as they are hardy creatures. As rabbit is a delicate pet, it is prone to many diseases or accidents. This can put the owners to the high veterinary bills. Hence it is necessary to get the pet rabbits insured.
Before insuring your pet one must consider the following factors:
  • The age of the rabbit: Some insurance companies may not insure an older pet. They might just terminate the policy once your pet reaches a certain age. Hence, while insuring the pet one must be sure of the policies of the insurance company
  • The breed of rabbit: Some companies have certain rules when it comes to breed of the rabbits. They prefer insuring a pure breed of rabbit. They think the mix breed of rabbit are prone to diseases and are hurtful to others.
  • Rabbit’s vaccination record: Try to provide the vaccination record to the insurance company. This will give them the idea of the vaccination record. These records will be helpful for the company in taking care of the pet.
There are three types of insurance cover available for the pet rabbit:
  • Cheap rabbit insurance: The cheapest rabbit insurance policies provide the lowest protection for the pet. These policies have certain limits on both time and money payable. In case, the pet needs immediate treatment or needs more long term assistance these policies deny for it. Once the pet rabbit has exceeded the cost or time for treatment, these particular conditions will not be covered.
  • Medium price insurance: As discussed above about the cheap pet insurance, there are certain limitations to the medium price insurance too. The average payments for this insurance would be two or three times more than that of cheap insurance. This insurance covers the health care of the pet. However it doesn’t cover the long-term illness of the pet.
  • Lifetime rabbit insurance: Lifetime rabbit insurance is the best insurance available for the pet. This is the most expensive cover for the rabbit. There will be a maximum payout per year. It provides the vet bills. All the health care in regards to the vaccination, medical treatments, surgeries all are covered up in lifetime insurance. There is no age limit of the pet for this policy.
